How we began

Founders Arinya Somboon and David Chen met while compiling daily chart printouts for a Khlong San investment club. Members kept asking the same questions: what counts as a real engulfing, and why does a doji in the middle of a range mean something different than at a swing low?

In 2019 they formalised the handouts into a structured half-day workshop and registered Desktop Magnolia Co., Ltd. to offer in-person training from the current Ladya Road studio. The room holds six desks, a wall-mounted grid board, and daylight from east-facing windows — deliberate choices so participants can mark charts without glare from overhead projectors.

Teaching approach

We teach candlestick reading as a craft skill, similar to learning to read musical notation before playing a piece. You mark, erase, remark, and compare against instructor samples. Software comes later, once your eye recognises shape and context on static paper.

Sessions draw examples primarily from Thai SET listings because most of our students trade locally, but pattern principles apply across equities, FX, and commodities. We reference volume only when it appears on the provided handout — we do not subscribe students to data feeds.

Relationship with clients

Students range from university graduates opening first accounts to retirees revisiting markets after decades away. We keep groups small so shy participants still receive chart review time. Follow-up emails summarise what the group marked correctly and where common misreadings appeared — not as criticism, but as a study guide for the week ahead.

We are not a brokerage, signal service, or fund. We do not earn commissions from trades you place. Workshop fees are our sole teaching revenue.
